Bennett Awards recently designed a set of custom corporate awards for Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, a leading provider of air cargo assets and outsourced aircraft operating services and solutions. These custom corporate trophies were commissioned by Atlas Air for their first annual Strategic Supplier Awards. These corporate recognition awards recognize excellence in service and performance among the company’s global and small-business suppliers.

Bennett Awards created a unique custom awards design based on the Atlas Air logo, which was inspired by Atlas Air founder Michael Chowdry’s vision of “carrying the world”. The unique awards design depicts a figure holding a globe on his back. The globe is open, and framed by latitude and longitude lines. These custom corporate awards, which stand approximately 17” tall, were cast in pewter and feature a gold-plated finish. They are mounted on black marble bases with customized engravings of the award name, recipient name, and recipient company logo. A closer view of these unique, personalized trophies can be seen via the following link: “Atlas Air Custom Corporate Awards”.

These recognition awards were presented to winners at a dinner awards ceremony held in Greenwich, Connecticut. The Atlas Air Strategic Supplier Awards were presented to seven companies in six categories:

  • The 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award was awarded to KLM Engineering & Maintenance.
  • The 2011 President’s Award went to DHL Express.
  • The 2011 Service and Quality Value Award was presented to two companies: Evergreen Aviation Technologies, and AACT.
  • The 2011 Innovation, Cost and Risk Management Award was given to MTU Maintenance Hannover.
  • The 2011 Safety & Compliance Award went to Aircraft Services International Group.
  • The 2011 Small Business Award was awarded to Xand Corporation.

The FACES Foundation selected a unique Bennett achievement awards design for a series of recognition awards honoring outstanding contributions in the medical field. The FACES Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has a mission to acknowledge and promote professional excellence in the education and care of patients with lung diseases. The Bennett recognition award “Appreciation with Butterfly” was adopted by The FACES Foundation for The PHIL Award (Pulmonary Health & Illnesses of the Lungs). The PHIL Award is a hospital-based recognition program designed to honor outstanding respiratory therapists (RT’s). Hospitals use the program as a vehicle to recognize and retain quality RT’s.

These unique recognition trophies are given out once a year at participating hospitals. 11 hospitals in 4 states currently participate in the program, and this number is growing. Participating hospitals include University of Michigan Hospital, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Northern Michigan Regional Hospital, University Hospitals, Rainbow Babies Children’s Hospital, Spectrum Health, Carolinas Medical Center, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Denver, and Harper University Hospital.

The Bennett achievement awards design “Appreciation with Butterfly” was selected for The PHIL Award based on the fact that the opened butterfly wings represent the lungs. The figure holding the butterfly represents RT’s. The RT has the patient’s lungs in their hands. The butterfly also represents freedom – the RT gives the patient the freedom to breath.

The FACES Foundation (Family And Caregiver Education & Support) was established in memory of Philip C. Lamka by Sharman Lamka, Founder and President of The FACES Foundation.

Bennett Awards recently completed a project to develop a set of custom awards for NASA. These custom trophies were used as recognition awards for the NASA Optimus Prime Spinoff Video contest. This contest encourages students to produce and submit short, creative videos about their favorite technology from NASA’s Spinoff Publication. The goal of this program is to help students understand how NASA technology is transformed into things that are used in our everyday lives.

For the contest, students submitted videos that were grouped into two age categories: 3rd-5th grades, and 6th-8th grades. The videos were posted on YouTube, and members of the public voted for their favorite videos. A panel of NASA judges reviewed the top 5 videos in each age category and selected two winners.

Contest winners were presented with unique, custom trophies designed by Bennett Awards at a recognition awards ceremony held April 12, 2011, at the U.S Space Foundation in Colorado Springs, CO. The achievement awards presentation was held as part of the 2011 National Space Symposium.

The unique custom trophies designed by Bennett Awards were based on Bennett’s “Crystal Honor” recognition awards, which feature a clear crystal polyhedron embedded with a custom-designed, 3D opaque object. The customized object used by NASA was a 3D image of the transformer “OPTIMUS PRIME”. NASA collaborated with Hasbro on the program, and the transformer figure helps reinforce how NASA technologies are “transformed” into items used on a daily basis. A more detailed view of these custom awards can be seen via the following link: “NASA Optimus Prime Custom Awards”.

The Space Foundation commissioned Bennett Awards to produce custom awards commemorating the 30th anniversary, and final year, of the Space Shuttle program. Bennett Awards artist Terrie Bennett created an incredible, breathtaking design featuring a 36” image of a space shuttle in flight. The shuttle is supported by 5 contrails, each representing one of the 5 American space shuttles: Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavor. These unique recognition awards were cast in bronze, and mounted on a black marble base engraved the with Space Foundation logo. A more detailed view of these custom awards can be seen via the following link: “Space Foundation Custom Awards”.

Two custom awards were produced for permanent displays. One will be displayed at NASA headquarters, while the other will be displayed at the Space Foundation headquarters. These unique awards were unveiled on April 12, 2011, at a special award ceremony held during the 27th National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. The Space Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports the American space industry through information and education programs. The foundation helps advance space-related endeavors to inspire, enable and propel humanity.
