As the summer comes to a close, many summer camps, athletic tournaments, and summer schools close their respective sessions with award ceremonies to recognize atendees, faculty, and alumni who have made significant accomplishments, each in their own distinct ways, with recognition awards and achievement awards. Because of the singular nature of these individuals, the awards that recognize them should be similarly distinctive; unique awards and unique trophies that capture the one-of-a-kind nature of the recipeient.

Rather than go with a plaque or similarly commonly-used recognition award, summer organizations should recognize their employees with custom or unique trophies that will be valued by the recipient for years to come. These unique awards will encourage antendees to continure to come to the camp or event, as they will feel valued and adequately recognized for their accomplishments. These sentiments also encourage the recipient to recommend the organization to their friends and family, who will be able to tangibly see the company’s unique, thoughtful and caring identity through the tangible award. Reach out to companies who make these unique recognition awards, such as Bennett Gallery, and see if you can’t give your summer organization that extra zest it deserves.

With the onset of the economic crisis, more and more corporations and companies are looking for ways to cut back on costs. One such sector they might think about doing so in is in the area of business awardscompany awards, or executive awards. These awards offer companies the chance to reward their employees or executives with recognition awards that offer a valuable, thoughtful and unique award to encourage employee performance while still cutting back on costs and making prudent economic decisions, ultimately improving both the companies’ budget and public image.

It does not look good for companies to continue to pay exorbitant bonuses in exchange for outstanding job performance. In the midst of a crisis, where a company might look to cutbacks or even layoffs to save money, they cannot simultaneously reward their top employees with extravagant bonuses, which not only look bad to those who are having salaries cut or being laid off, but take money away from the companies’ overall profit. At the same time, companies need to express their appreciation for quality work; without such a demonstration, workers might feel undervalued and decrease productivity, thereby also lowering the companies’ output.

Custom awards from companies such as Bennett Gallery, however, offer companies a way to show that appreciation and let workers know they are valued without breaking their budget. Unique recognition awards show thoughtful thanks without being overly showy or extravagant. A recognition award is a timeless, cost-efficient piece that will stay with a hardworking employee forever.

Nestle Direct Store Delivery (DSD) selected an integrated set of Bennett corporate awards for sales achievement awards that are presented each year. Nestle DSD manages direct store delivery operations for Nestle’s frozen pizza and ice cream brands. The corporate awards that Bennett Awards provided Nestle DSD honor top achieving Area Sales Managers (ASL’s) across the U.S.

These unique corporate achievement awards consist of two components. The first component is a set of individual recognition awards that are awarded to the top performing ASL’s in each region. In addition, a larger perpetual corporate award, based on the same sculpture award as the individual recognition awards, features engraved plaques that list each year’s award winners.

The unique Bennett corporate awards design United with Globe is used as the sculpture award component of these achievement trophies. The crystal globe incorporated in these awards is customized with an etching in the crystal of the Nestle DSD logo. The individual recognition trophies (shown below) are mounted on 4” x 2” black marble bases that feature personalized engravings of the Nestle DSD logo, the award name, the year of presentation, and the recipient’s name.

Extending this theme, the perpetual corporate award features the same United with Globe sculpture award mounted on a taller, two-tier base. The top tier consists of the same 4” x 2” black marble base that is used in the individual achievement trophies. This base features a large custom engraving of the Nestle DSD logo. The lower tier of the base is a handcrafted hardwood tower standing 14” tall. Attached to this tower are black plates for each year that are engraved with that year’s award recipients.

Bennett Awards designed and produced a new custom perpetual awards design for the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance, a celebration of classic wooden boats. Since its inception in 1972, the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance has become one of the most prestigious wooden boat shows in North America. The event draws upwards of 100 antique and classic boat entries and 5,000 spectators. These beautifully restored boats include historic lakers and launches; pre- and post-WWII racers and runabouts; utility boats, and flashy Rivas.

Each year, winning boat entries in 17 different classes are awarded with perpetual trophies.  In 2011, GoldKey Storage and Marine Service Center, one of the event’s main sponsors, created a new perpetual awards category: the Sponsor’s Choice “Best of Show Original Preserved” trophy that represents GoldKey’s tireless quest to preserve customers’ stored watercraft. The winner of this award also receives one year of free storage.

GoldKey Storage chose Bennett Awards to design a new custom perpetual trophy for this new recognition award category.  Bennett Awards worked collaboratively with GoldKey Storage to create a unique recognition awards design that captured the beauty, spirit and elegance of these classic wooden watercraft. This unique custom trophy features a gold-plated pewter sculpture in the shape of a classic wooden boat at the top of the trophy. This sculpture award is attached to a hand-crafted two-tier hardwood base constructed of Brazilian Cherry wood, creating a look that evokes the beauty of these wooden boats. The top tier of this base holds a customized engraved plate with the GoldKey Storage logo, the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance logo, and the name of the achievement award. The lower tier of the base features space for personalized plates engraved with the name of each year’s winner. This unique, distinctive recognition award stands 32” tall.

This custom perpetual trophy was initially presented at the 2011 Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegence event, held August 12-13 at the Sierra Board Company Docks in Carnelian Bay (Lake Tahoe), California.

Bennett Awards create a new, unique custom award for a group of students at Shippenburg University. The custom awards design, called “The Golden Mop” award, was developed as a recognition trophy for a deserving Shippenburg University employee. These students wanted a unique, distinctive recognition award that they could use to honor a Shippensburg custodian – Dale Stembaugh – who had done an exceptional job for the residents of his hall, and who had worked to make himself a valuable member of their community.

These students were price-sensitive, so Bennett Awards designed a cost-effective custom trophies design that met their budget requirements, but that was still unique and distinctive enough to impart their gratitude on Mr. Stembaugh. The custom award consisted of a black marble rectangular block that was affixed with a metal gold image of a mop, in accordance with the name of the recognition award.

This custom achievement trophy was presented to Mr. Stembaugh on May 5, 2011, in Mawry Hall at Shippenburg University. This unique award was presented to Mr. Stembaugh by Terrance Griffin and Chris Baker (pictured in the photo below).

When an employee receives an executive award, an honor from someone much higher up in the company, they receive many messages at once. First and foremost, by receiving a business award they understand that their work is valued by the business, the congratulations of which only stands to benefit everyone. If it is a quality award, beautifully made, and out of the finest materials, they understand that their company values quality, not to mention class. If the materials are durable and lasting, like bronze or pewter, the employee understands that the awards is meant to be honored for a substantial time, because it is a substantial honor. They can better understand even the aesthetic taste of the company by the basic appearance of the award and the attractiveness of its design.

The final message that employees receive when corporate awards are presented to them is that executives have taken notice, the value of which should equal the award, if indeed the executives do want to acknowledge that they employee is on the right path. And if the award clearly represents value and honor, and a high degree of recognition from the heads of a company, the employee will likely be motivated to continue working hard until they have reached the same caliber of their superiors.

Companies like Bennett Awards can help executives find guidance in making their awards a success. Here, quality and satisfaction are both guarantees, with plenty of beautiful and valuable options and varieties of awards. Selecting, customizing, or even designing an award completely from scratch, are all made possible and affordable. With these awards, you can make sure your recognition is saying the most accurate and effective messages for successful employees.

Typically in the awards business, companies make cheap costs a priority. These are the same companies that are churning out mass-produced copies and replicas of unoriginally designed trophies and plaques, and then selling them to unaware corporations for irrationally high prices because they have the label “award.” At other companies though, like Bennett Awards, customers and corporations can purchase or design awards whose quality and value actually match and meet the prestige of the honor itself.

At Bennett Awards, ‘real’ awards are being made, out of substantial, durable, and beautiful metal materials like bronze and pewter, even available with gold or silver plating. They essentially specialize in their custom design award options, which are usually placed on quality marble base. The value of these ‘real’ award sculptures outshines basic plastic, glass, and wood squares by miles. And while Bennett Awards does offer these cheaper basic options, it also promises that no matter what material or design you choose, you won’t be getting anything that’s already been done a million times; your award will be unique and beautiful, guaranteed.

Many of the sculpture achievement awards sold at Bennett Awards are, in fact, the same exact sculptures sold in art galleries across the nation for the past four decades. They are truly pieces of art, somehow contemporary and classic at the same time. Their quality materials and handcrafted process ensure that these awards will last for generations, enabling recipients to pass on their legacy to be admired and remembered in future family households. And because these unique awards are not cheap, unoriginal plaques or paperweights, current and future families will likely be proud to display these designs and figures as the artwork in itself they are.

If you are considering business awards, make sure your awards are of this caliber, and match the caliber of the honor and achievements you present. Make sure they are real awards.

Bennett Awards recently designed and produced a custom perpetual trophy for the Mid-America Classic, a football rivalry between Eastern Illinois and Illinois State that spans more than a century. In 2011, these two Illinois college football teams will meet for the 100th time. To commemorate this milestone and long-standing series, the two schools have rebranded the annual rivalry the “Mid-America Classic”.

A key piece of this rebranding effort involved the creation of a custom perpetual traveling trophy. Each year, the victorious team will get to keep the trophy at their school for the remainder of the year, until the following year’s football game.

Bennett Awards created a new, unique custom trophies design for this event standing approximately 2’ tall. The top of the traveling trophy features a custom pewter sculpture award. This sculpture awards design is derived from the Mid-America Classic logo.  A hollow, impressionistic football shape surrounds a cut-out image of the state of Illinois. Wrapped around the football are two pewter ribbons – one in each school’s color. These ribbons end in star shapes at the location of each school on the Illinois image.

This unique sculpture award is mounted on a custom-made black hardwood base shaped like a pyramid. At the top of each side of the base, there are custom plates of the Mid-America Classic logo. Beneath these plates are smaller rectangular engraved plates customized with the scores of each game in the history of the series. There is also space to add additional engraved plates at the conclusion of future games.

This perpetual award was unveiled on August 2, 2011, at a joint press conference held in Urbana, Illinois. A closer view of this custom trophies design can be seen by clicking the following link: “Mid-America Classic Custom Trophy“.

The recognize this outstanding achievement, Folsom commissioned Bennett Awards to create a unique custom trophy design that captured the spirit and magic of their remarkable accomplishment. This unique custom awards design features three components. At the top of the recognition trophy is a clear crystal obelisk. Inside this obelisk there are embedded 3D opaque images of a football, the Bulldog mascot, and words “DIVISION II STATE CHAMPIONS”. This crystal obelisk is mounted on a square black marble base. This base features customized engravings of the team’s end-of-season #5 national ranking. This marble base, in turn, is mounted on a multi-tier wood base.
