At a star-studded gala recognition event held October 17, 2011, Barbara Streisand, Jennifer Aniston, and Michelle Pfeiffer were among the distinguished recipients of custom recognition awards designed and produced by Bennett Awards. Bennett Awards provided the unique, custom achievement trophies for Elle Magazine’s 18th Annual Women in Hollywood Awards Ceremony. This year’s gala awards ceremony was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverley Hills, California. The Women in Hollywood Awards honor women for their achievements in film across all facets of the film industry, including acting, directing and producing. This year, there were nine recipients of these unique trophies. In addition to Streisand, Aniston, and Pfeiffer, other honorees included Naomi Watts, Viola Davis, Freida Pinto, Elizabeth Olsen, Evan Rachel Wood, and Dreamworks Studios chief Stacey Snider. These unique, distinctive custom awards were designed feature a graceful, impressionistic figure intertwined with a ribbon. Baume & Mercier, the internationally renowned watchmaking house, chose a distinctive Bennett corporate awards design for an employee recognition award they recently presented. The unique corporate awards design “Circle of Life” was selected for Baume & Mercier’s “Hal Wilensky Circle of Life” employee recognition award, which is presented to employees who show great dedication to the company. This year’s corporate award was presented to Diane Keller, a customer service representative who has been with Baume & Mercier for 33 years. The unique achievement award was presented to Ms. Keller by Rudy Chavez, President of Baume and Mercier North America, at a recognition awards ceremony held in July, 2011, in East Hampton, New York. The recognition award was created in a brushed pewter finish, and mounted on a black marble base with customized engraving of the award name, recipient name, and Baume & Mercier logotype. Baume & Mercier are at the forefront of luxury watch design. Baume & Mercier watches have a rich and storied tradition in Swiss watchmaking and are designed and crafted according to the strictest criteria and Swiss traditions.

The Scottsdale International Film Festival selected a unique Bennett recognition awards design for the inaugural presentation of its Artistic Diversity Award. These achievement awards are presented to artists who have made an outstanding contribution to citizens of the planet through a commitment to artistic, humanitarian and social causes. The 2011 recipient of this prestigious recognition award was the renowned independent film director, screenwriter, and author John Sayles. Sayles has written and directed a number of iconic independent films, including Return of the Secaucus 7, Wild Thing, Eight Men Out, City of Hope, Lone Star, Sunshine State, and, most recently, Amigo. The Bennett achievement award was presented to Sayles on October 1, 2011, at a special screening and discussion of Amigo at the Scottsdale International Film Festival. The unique Bennett recognition awards design “Envision” was used for this achievement award. This sculpture award was mounted on a black marble base that featured customized engravings of the film festival logo, recipient name, award name and purpose, and year of presentation. The personalized engravings were done in silver-fill to match the finish of the recognition award. The Scottsdale International Film Festival’s mission is to be the undisputed Arizona leader in the use of film to foster a meaningful understanding of the world’s cultures, lifestyles, religions, and ethnicities. This mission has grown more vital with each passing year. The Festival has offered to its audience of 55,000+ attendees more than 281 films from an impressive 62 nations around the globe and from countries as diverse as Azerbaijan, Bhutan, Kyrgyzstan, Slovenia, and Tanzania. Television news veteran Ted Koppel recently received a unique, custom Bennett recognition award from Washington State University (WSU). WSU commissioned Bennett Awards to create a new custom awards design for their 2011 Edward R. Murrow Award for Lifetime Achievement in Broadcast Journalism. Koppel received this custom achievement award at the 37th Edward R. Murrow Symposium, held September 23, 2011, at the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum on the WSU Pullman campus. Koppel also presented the keynote address at this symposium. Bennett Awards worked collaboratively with WSU to create a new custom trophy design for this prestigious achievement award. The custom awards design features a sculpture award in the shape of vintage broadcast microphone. At the top of the microphone is the signature of Edward R. Murrow. The sculpture trophy was cast in bronze, and mounted on a black marble base with customized, gold-filled engraving of the award name, year of presentation, recipient name, award purpose, and presenting organization. Koppel is a 43-year veteran of ABC news, and is best known for his work as the anchor of ABC’s Nightline series. Koppel has won every major American broadcast industry honor, including 41 Emmy Awards, eight George Foster Peabody Awards, 10 duPont-Columbia Awards, 10 Overseas Press Club Awards, two George Polk Awards, and two Sigma Delta Chi Awards.

The National Water Research Institute (NWRI) selected a Bennett corporate awards design for a prestigious recognition award they recently presented. The unique Bennett corporate awards design “In Our Hands“ was presented as a recognition award to NWRI’s founder, the Joan Irvine Smith and Athalie R. Clarke Foundation, in recognition of 20 years of support and encouragement. This unique, distinctive achievement award was presented at the 18th Annual NWRI Athalie Richardson Irvine Clarke Prize Award Ceremony and Lecture, held July 14, 2011, in Newport Beach, California. The recognition award was presented to foundation representative James Swinden, son of Joan Irvine Smith and great-grandson of James Irvine, who founded Irvine Ranch and the Irvine Company in Southern California. The achievement trophy presentation was held at the beginning of the Clarke Prize award ceremony, which is named after NWRI’s co-founder, Athalie Richardson Irvine Clark, the daughter of James Irvine. The Irvine family is very supportive of water issues in California. The Clarke Prize is an award (medallion and $50,000 check) given to an outstanding researcher in the water and wastewater industry. The 2011 recipient was environmental engineer Mark R. Wiesner, Ph.D., P.E., the James L. Meriam Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Duke University. Wiesner was selected as the 2011 recipient for his groundbreaking efforts and leadership in improving water quality through advancements in membrane and nontechnology research. A 501c3 non-profit, the National Water Research Institute of Fountain Valley, California, sponsors projects and programs focused on ensuring safe, reliable sources of water now and for future generations. |
