Africare, the oldest non-profit organizations in the United States working solely in Sub-Saharan Africa, selected a pair of unique Bennett recognition awards for its recent humanitarian awards gala. These achievement trophies were presented to their recipients at the Africare Bishop John T. Walker Memorial Dinner, the largest awards gala for Sub-Saharan Africa in the U.S. This prestigious awards presentation and dinner was held November 9, 2011, in Washington, D.C., and was attended by nearly 1,000 leaders from government, business and international development organizations.

Africare honored former Brazilian President Luiz Inacia Lula da Silva with its Leadership Award in recognition of his countless contributions in trade, investment and diplomatic relations between Brazil and Africa. This unique Bennett recognition trophies design “Global Presence”, created by MK Shannon, was used for this prestigious award.

Africare presented the Africare Corporate Award to former CEO Roger Agnelli of the Vale Corporation of Brazil, the worlds second largest diversified mining company. Agnelli and the Vale Corporation were recognized for their staunch efforts to enhance the health, nourishment, empowerment and employment of the African people. The distinctive Bennett corporate trophies design “Partnership”, created by Tom Bennett, was used for this achievement award.

Both of these recognition trophies were mounted on black marble bases that featured customized gold-filled engraving of the Africare logo, award name, recipient name, and a brief statement of purpose.
